American hunter and writer Wayne van Zwoll and professional hunter Otto Schratz are hunting for chamois in the beautiful Alps region of Tyrol / Austria. The Mauser M 12 proves successful under changing weather conditions and challenging stalks. Accompanied by Bavarian mountain dog Lotte, the hunters harvest a 3 year old female although they are faced in the morning with 6 inches of fresh snow, which is quite unusual for mid october. The shooting distance is 180 meters. Wayne sums up his impression: „… It has everything you might want in a hunting rifle!“

The chamois is a goat-antelope species (lat. Rupicapra rupicapra) native and wide spread over Europe’s Alps. While there are different sub species, Wayne and Otto hunted the most common Alpine chamois. These animals prefer to live high in the mountains and both sexes are wearing horns. Its meat tastes delicious.
Listen to Wayne van Zwoll when he is sharing his opinion about the hunt and the new Mauser M 12 bolt action rifle. He hunted with the US version of the rifle and the caliber he used is .30-06 Springfield.
