Wenn der Herbst in das Land zieht, beginnt eine aufregende Zeit im Reich der Rothirsche – die Brunft. Ein Schauspiel aus Stimme und Kraft und Kampf um Territorium und Weibchen. Diese Filmaufnahmen entstanden in den letzten 5 Jahren in Revieren der Südheide.

Für das Rotwild als Wildart wird vor allem entscheidend sein, inwieweit wir in Deutschland störungsfreie großräumige Gebiete erhalten können. Nur so können gesunde Wildbestände mit einem optimalen Altersklassenaufbau existieren, und nur so kann ein Hirsch auch alt werden und zum Platzhirsch reifen. Die Hirsche zeigen uns somit in einer schonungslosen Klarheit wie es um uns unsere Wildnis bestellt ist. Wir als Jäger und als gesamte Gesellschaft sind deshalb gefordert den wenigen verbliebenen Lebensraum des Rotwildes zu sichern, und ihnen ein artgerechtes Verhalten zu ermöglichen. Damit sie auch in Zukunft in den Weiten der Lüneburger Heide ein Brunft-Spektakel liefern können.”

As autumn arrives, an exciting time begins in the realm of red deer – the rut. A spectacle of voice and strength, and the fight for territory and females. The film footage was shot over the last five years in hunting grounds in the Lüneburg Heath.
Outro text: “I hope these insights into the rutting season will awaken passion and interest in red deer in the Lüneburg Heath in some people. For red deer as a species, the decisive factor will be the extent to which we can preserve large, undisturbed areas in Germany. This is the only way to maintain healthy populations with an optimal age group structure, and the only way a stag can grow old and mature into a dominant stag. The stags thus show us with brutal clarity how our wilderness is doing. We as hunters and as society as a whole are therefore called upon to protect the few remaining habitats of red deer and enable them to behave in a species-appropriate manner. So that they can continue to provide a rutting spectacle in the vastness of the Lüneburg Heath in the future.”
